      Abstract
      A study on the utlization of several regancy level hospital in Indonesia was conducted by the Health Services Research and Development Centre in Surabaya, during the months June to November 1972. Attemps were done to analyze the various fact ors which may contribute to the cause of under utilization of these regency level hospitals. These factors range from a need for a services to actual utilization of hospital services and the influence of the barriers to access (demograpbic, social, psychological factors, educational, economical factors,the organization of health services/availability and the price to consumers of hospital services).
