Abstract
Carbohydrate, Fat, Protein, Vitamin, and Mineral are essentials nutrient for human life, especially for under five years old children. It is because those children need more nutrient for their growth and development, if their nutrient supply is under aver age then they will suffer nutrient disorder, this status can lead to Nutrient deficiency. The root of nutrient deficiency problem are economic, social, and political crisis, mother’s educational level and knowledge, and family income. Other factor that can influence the nutrient deficiency of children are parenting style, range of medical service, environment health, food supply and infection status. East Jakarta known as district where number of under five years old children with nutrient deficiency is high. The aim of this study is to finding out correlation of mother’s characteristic, knowledge and attitude with children’s nutrient status at Posyandu RW 05 and RW 10 Utan Kayu Utara Jakarta Timur district. The method of this study is analytical observational with Cross Sectional approach. The numbers of sample in this study are 74 mothers and their under five years old children, chosen by simple random sampling method. Data were analyzed by univariate analysis, bivariate analysis with Fisher. The result of bivariate for age (p=0,711), education (p=0,002), job (1,000) knowledge (p=0,007) and attitude (p=0,005). The result of this study showed there is correlation between mother’s education, knowledge and attitude with nutrient status of under five years old children.
