Abstract
Hyperglycemic is a common effect of diabetes mellitus. Indonesia has many are efficacious plants, which one is Breadfruit leaves (Artocarpus altilis) that taught had antihyperglycemic effect. This study aimed to examine breadfruit leaves extract as
antihyperglycemic effect for delta blood glucose level in white male Wistar rats induced by sucrose. The method was experimental study with simple randomized design. This experiment used 25 white male Wistar rats which divided into 5 groups
consist of positive control (Acarbose), negative control (CMC 1%), and three groups of breadfruits leaves extract with 942 mg/kgBW, 1.884 mg/kgBW, 3.768 mg/kgBW
doses. The data were analyzed by one way ANOVA with p= 0,002 (p<0,05) shows significant differences in groups then the data were analyzed by Post-Hoc test, showed a significant difference of delta blood glucose level between control negative group and breadfruit leaves extract dose I, II, III (p<0,05).There is no significant difference of delta blood glucose level between control positive group with breadfruit leaves
extract 942 mg/kgBW (p>0,05), that means this dose have almost the same effect with acarbose. It is concluded from this study that all doses of breadfruit leaves extract has anti hyperglycemic for blood glucose level in white male Wistar strain rats induced sucrose with the best dose is 942 mg/kgBW.
