Abstract
Depression is one of the forms of the syndrome pattern from mood imbalance disorders. Untreated depression could end as bad as suicide. Depression gave a major
contribution in health’s burden all over the world and also affected many communities as well, one of the risk factor for depression is a socio-demographic changing. Prisoner of TNI was population at risk for incident of depression. It
happened from the beginning when they were entered to military prison, at the moment their commision rank and their gun’s belonging were dismissed. The aim of this study was to know the comparation between demographic characteristics (including age, marital status, level of education, commision rank) and periode of
punishment with a levels of depressive at the military prisons Cimahi on March 2013. The characteristics of this study was a descriptive analytic with cross sectional design. Total sample was 73 and was using simple random sampling method. The data then was analyzed using both Chi-square test and the Kolmogorov-Smirnov (p<0.05) and had a statistic bivariate for age (p = 0.046), marital status (p = 0.022), level of education (p = 0.987), commision rank (p = 0.046) and periode of punishment (p = 0.00). So, it can be concluded that there was a comparation (p> 0.05) between age, marital status, commision rank and periode of punishment with level of
depression in prisoner of TNI at the Military Prisons Cimahi on March 2013.
