Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a disease which can cause chronic complication both micro and macrovascular, with consequent internal organs failure effect for example kidney. One of chronic complication from diabetes mellitus is diabetic nephropathy which is the main cause of end stage renal disease. The aim of this research is to know the relation of duration of diabetes mellitus with the development of end stage renal disease in type 2 diabetic mellitus patients at PELNI Hospital, Jakarta. This research using cross sectional design with a total sample of 92 people, chosen by consecutive sampling. Data were obtained from the medical record. Bivariat analytical results using chi-square test showed that there is a significant relation between duration of diabetes mellitus with the development of end stage renal disease in type 2 diabetic mellitus patients, with p-value = 0,000 (p < 0,05).
