Smoking habit is a still ongoing health problem which proves difficult to solve. A number of negative impacts and dangers caused by smoking had been published to no effect. This study is aimed to determine the overall condition and correlation between familial and social
smoking habit towards smoking severity on students of SMAN 2 Bekasi. This study is an analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design. This study was held in SMA Negeri 2 High School of Bekasi. A total of 136 samples were obtained through random sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed with Chi-square correlation test. Our results show a majority of the smokers are female (69 samples) and 16
years old (69 samples); 96 samples have a familial smoking habit and 74 samples have a social smoking habit. Familial and social smoking are found correlated with the smoking severity of students of SMAN 2 Bekasi (p = 0,002 and 0,000 respectively). Individuals from
permissive families are more likely to develop smoking habit. Having smoking friends will increase the amount of smoking teenagers, and vice versa.
