Abstract

ABSTRACT   Introduction . A stroke is a disease that affects the brain's blood vein causing a permanent defect in the brain and occur suddenly (Agoes, 1997). According to the World Health Organization (WHO), stroke occupies the third position as the main cause of death in the world. While in Europe in 650,000 cases encountered Stroke every year (World Health Organization WHO, 2011). In the United States stroke and vascular diseases are the number one cause of death. The number of stroke patients continues to increase every year, not only against the elderly, but also young people at productive ages (National Stroke Association, 2009). Aim. This study was aimed to find the relationship of risk factors with the incidence of stroke at Angsoka’s Room on A.W. Sjahranie Hospital in Samarinda. Method. Method of this research was descriptive analysis with cross sectional design. The sample in this research was 94 respondents. Results. The result showed 94,7% respondents were 40-60 years old. Age factors have no significant relationship with the incidence of stroke disease as well as sex, weight, DM, heart, LDL cholesterol, and hereditary disease have no relationship with stroke. Only Hypertension disease factors has a relationship with the incidence of Stroke (p = 0.008). Conclusion: There were a significant relationship (p = 0.008) between Hypertension with Stroke Occurrence at Angsoka’s Room on A.W.
