Abstract

Maternal mortality in Indonesia 2012 as many as 359 per 100,000 live births (Health Departement RI, 2014). The number of maternal deaths in Batang Regency in 2014 amounted to 23 cases, 2015 of 13 cases and 2016 of 16 cases. The government has made various efforts to reduce maternal mortality rates such as the implementation of maternal classes. Implementation of maternal class program was not currently optimal. This research aimed to described implementation of maternal classes in Kandeman Public Health Batang Regency The corresponding research design used descriptive. Population were maternal classes at Kandeman Public Health Batang Regency as many as 13 classes. The technique of sampling used total sampling. The instrument of data collecting used check list. The result showed that all (100%) of the facilitators were lacking in the implementation of maternal class, 105 (80,76%) peoples of inactive maternal class, 7 (53.8%) unsuitable maternal classes and 13 (100%) pregnant women's classes appropriate maternal classes. From the result of this research, expected that public health center need to evaluate the ability of facilitator in delivering material and communicate, can create interactive communication so that pregnant class participant will be more active in asking.
