Abstract

The number of HIV/ AIDS cases in Indonesia increased from year to year. Various efforts to control and prevention HIV/AIDS have been done such as HIV test. Public awareness to do HIV test voluntarily still low because less knowledge about HIV/AIDS. This research described characteristics and maternal women of knowledge about HIV/AIDS in General Hospital Bendan Pekalongan . The research design used descriptive. Sample were maternal women who visited to General Hospital Bendan Pekalongan as many as 74 peoples. The technique of sampling used accidental sampling. The instrument of data collecting used questionnaire.The result of the study showed that avarage age of respondent was 28, 53 people (54.1%) had high school education, 59 people (60.2%) did not work, 98 people (100%) were married. There were 61 people (62.2%) had enough knowledgeable, 14 people (14.3%) good knowledge, and 23 people (23.5%) less knowledgeable about HIV / AIDS.The hospital should advised to create an HIV / AIDS through counseling or health education on HIV / AIDS for maternal women who had antenatal care
