Abstract

Along with the latest development of MRI technology, recent diffusion weighted image sequences are not only used to detect infarcts, but in field of oncology to assess tumor growth rates or cancerous malignancies. The purpose of this research is to know the procedureof MRI Lumbosacral examination with metastase case and the reason for using diffusion weighted image sequence at MRI Lumbosacral examination with metastase case at Radiology Installation of Badung Mangusada Hospital.The type of this research is qualitative descriptive with case study approach. Methods of data collection is done by observation, interviews with radiographers, radiology specialists and sending doctors and documentation. Data analysis is done by data collection, data reduction, data presentation, conclusing drawing.The results showed that in the procedure of Lumbosacral MRI examination on the case of metastases conducted in Radiology Installation of Badung Mangusada Hospital before the examination was done, the patient screening first. Sequences used T1WI TSE sagittal, T2WI TSE sagittal, T2 haste myelo coronal, T2WI haste myelo sagittal, T2WI TIRM sagittal, T1WI TSE axial, T2WI TSE axial, sagittal DWI. The reason for using the diffusion weighted image sequence on the Lumbosacral MRI with metastatic cases is because the diffusion weighted image sequence can provide information about the cellularrity of the tissue, so as to distinguish between normal tissue and metastasis
