dc.descriptionABSTRACT. THE DIFFERENCE OF IMAGE QUALITY AND ANATOMICAL INFORMATION BETWEN FLAIR AND FLAIR FAT SATURATION SEQUENCES OF MRI BRAIN AXIAL SLICEDwi Dina Yulita 1), Dartini 2), Emi Murniati 3)The Brain MRI examination is routinely performed using T1 SE axial and T2 TSE axial sequences. Not all abnormalities or lesions can be detected with T2WI. To overcome this, then in the MRI brain examination developed Invertion Recovery sequence called Fluid Attenuated Invertion Recovery (FLAIR). The FLAIR sequence is often combined with the Fat Saturation technique called the FLAIR Fat Saturation sequence. The purpose of this research was determine the difference of image quality and anatomical information between FLAIR sequence and FLAIR Fat Saturation as well as to determine the sequence is better for detecting lesions.This is a quantitative research with an experimental approach to 10 MRI Brain patients which then performed SNR measurements on white matter, gray matter, CSF and lesions and CNR measurements between lesions with white matter, lesions with gray matter and lesions with CSF for Assessing the difference in image quality between the FLAIR and FLAIR Fat Saturation sequences. Data analysis was performed by Paired T test. To assess differences in anatomical information on white matter, gray matter, CSF and lesions between the FLAIR sequence and the FLAIR Fat Saturation based on the opinion of a radiologist through a questionnaire. Data analysis was performed by Wiloxon Test.The result of Paired T Test of image quality SNR and CNR measurement is p value 0,001 < 0,05 that means there are SNR and CNR differece both sequences.The results of mean rank SNR sequences FLAIR 2,07 and 2,24 for FLAIR Fat Saturation sequences. The results of the CNR mean rank sequence of FLAIR 1,96 and 2,15 for the FLAIR Fat Saturation sequence. And the result of Wilcoxon test to determine difference of anatomical information is p value 0,007 < 0.05 that means there are image anatomical information difference..The results of mean rank anatomic information sequence FLAIR 0.00 and 45 for FLAIR Fat Saturation sequence. The results show that the FLAIR Fat Saturation sequence is better than the FLAIR sequence.
