dc.descriptionTo analyze the technique of brachytherapy moulds to treat for superficial carcinomas of the head with thermoplastic mask fixation at Dr. Sardjito Hospital Yogyakarta is implemented based on procedures that are still in the form of design in order to be authenticated.The type of research in this thesis is a qualitative research with case study approach. The research was conducted at Radiotherapy Dr. Sardjito Hospital Yogyakarta in August 2017 - January 2018. Methods of data collection in this study are observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of this study indicate this procedure can treat oval Malignan Pilomatricoma 7cm in diameter to a depth of 1.5 cm with a total dose of 48 Gy for 16 fractions via HDR afterloading, using 7 catheters grown in custom-made moulds made of polymethyl methacrylate attached to a thermoplastic mask so that 3 Gy each fraction is achieved for 304.2 seconds in 169 source dwell positon. Produce clinical out-come acute skin erythema reaction occurs only in high dose areas during control of the 14th fraction, the condition has ended at 15 weeks after the completion of all fractions, very good results, no regional or distant metastases, almost no visible scar at the site of the original wound or complete remission.Conclusions: Thermoplastic mask is a highly effective fixation of custom-made moulds for source dwell positon, so it can support treatment of superficial carcinomas of the head. Custom-made moulds and their fixation, to be used in conjunction with HDR brachytherapy equipment, make possible a uniform dose distribution, with a sharp dose gradient in the limits of applicators. Custom-made surface moulds with thermoplastic mask fixation are easy and safe to use, and they fit very accurately for hyper fraction technique. Local control is excellent with minimal sequelae or complications. Probably they will become the standard way of treatment of face skin carcinomas in the near future
