Abstract
This study aims to determine the procedures, techniques, reasons and evaluation of extra corporeal bone irradiation technique with limb salvage surgery action on femur osteosarcoma that has been done in Radiotherapy unit of Dr. Kariadi Hospital Semarang. This technique is very rare and for the first time done in Dr. Kariadi Hospital Semarang. The type of research conducted in this paper is descriptive qualitative research with case study approach, the authors make observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The data obtained are processed by quotation and review the data with appropriate reference to discuss the problems. The conclusion is drawn from the result of the study. The results showed that the technique of extra corporeal bone irradiation with limb salvage surgery on femoral osteosarcoma at Radiotherapy unit of Dr. Kariadi Hospital Semarang covers bone removal process, wrapping process, tranport process, bone organ delivery process in sterile condition, a simulator with radiation field boundary of the segment of the bone to be shined, irradiation using a single dose of 50 Gy, calculation of irradiation time in TPS by 2D technique, Anteroposterior and Posteroanterior projection, external radiation therapy measures in the irradiation room as well as reassignment of bone organ to surgeon to do reimplantation in a sterile state. The reason for choosing this technique is to rescue the legs in the hope that the tumor in the organ is dead. Evaluation is done gradually to monitor wound development as well as clinical development post ECI action
