      Effectiveness of Ginger Plus Honey Drink to Reduce the Frequency of Nausea and Vomiting in the First Trimester Pregnancy

      Abstract
      Introduction: Most of pregnant women feel nausea and vomiting are some uncomfortable things and can interfere with daily activities and even many of the pregnant women should consume drugs or other alternative measures to treat nausea and vomiting. A traditional herb can be used for example a cup of warm ginger drink and honey. This study is to analyze the effectiveness of ginger plus honey drink to reduce the frequency of nausea and vomiting in the first trimester pregnancy.Methods: This was a quasi experimental study, with pre-post test control group design by assessing the frequency of nausea and vomiting before and after treatment with a control group. Subject of this research is 13 pregnant women for honey groups, 13 for ginger groups, 13 for ginger plus honey groups. Result: The members within three groups had changes from severe nausea and vomiting to moderate and mild ones. It can be revealed that as many as 4 (30,8%) respondents were included in the moderate nausea and vomiting category before the ginger plus honey drink and only 1 (7,7%) respondent who had moderate nausea and vomiting after the ginger plus honey drink consumption. The Friedman statistic test obtained the p= 0.000. There were significant differences between the scores before and after treatment, Wilcoxon rank test results is the lowest in the ginger plus honey drink treatment with the z= -2.232.Conclusion: Ginger plus honey drink was more effective in reducing the incidence of vomitingcompared to honey drink or ginger drink alone
