Abstract
Pregnancy is a physiological condition, but there are some condition that can cause a pregnancy full of threats. One of the diseases that often threaten pregnancy is hypertension in pregnancy. Hypertension in pregnancy is affected by maternal age, heredity, parity, salt consumption, occupation, smoking / alcohol consumption, obesity, and nutritional intake. If not prevented and handled hypertension in pregnancy can cause many negative impacts for both mother and newborn during the perinatal period. Hypertension can be treated with non-pharmacological treatment with either internal hydrotherapy by drinking warm water and external hydrotherapy with warm water foot bath. Hydrotherapy has a hot / warm biological effect that can cause to dilation of the blood vessels and result in increased blood circulation. This research uses quasy experiment research design, pre-post test design control that is a measurement done before and after research in experiment group. The sampling technique using purposive sampling. The study sample was pregnant women with hypertension whose gestational age was ?20 weeks, each group was 12 respondents. The results showed no significant difference between internal and external hydrotherapy on decrease internal maternal blood pressure with hypertension in pregnancy (p-value systole 0.491 and p-value diastole 0.178). Average difference of systole /diastole of internal hydrotherapy 20/10 and the difference of the average systole / diastole of external hydrotherapy 17/8.The conclusion of this study is the effectiveness of these two alternative hydrotherapy is equally to decreased blood pressure. This therapy can be used as non-pharmacological alternative that applied to pregnant women with hypertension
