Abstract
Background: One of the preventive efforts to reduce the incidence of infection in postpartum mothers by performing vulvar treatment. Whereas Povidon Iodine used has side effects caused by irritation, toxic reactions from Iodine will cause irritation. The use of Iodine can change skin pigmentation to dark red. Herbal medicines commonly used in the community are plants that produce secondary metabolites. One of the plants that has flavonoid compounds is basil leaves.Objective: Analyzing the effect of basil leaf extract spray as an antiseptic on the postpartum maternal perineal wound healing process..Method: Quasi Experiment with a non-randomized research design control group design pre and post test. The number of samples 34 was divided into 2 groups, namely 17 intervention groups and 17 control groups. Examination is carried out for 7 days.Result: The results of the analysis of giving basil leaf extract spray on the perineal wound of REEDA healing have a significant difference with p value = 0,000. Healing Redness has a significant difference with p value = 0,000. Edema Healing has a significant difference with p value = 0,000. Ecchymosis healing has a significant difference with p value = 0,000. Discharge healing has a significant difference with p value = 0,000. Healing Approximation has a significant difference with p value = 0,000.Conclusions: Giving a basil leaf extract spray affects the perineal wound healing of post partum mothers based on redness, edema, ecchymosis, discharge and approximation. It is expected that the spray of basil leaf extract can be used as a treatment for perineal wounds
