Abstract
One of the targets of dental health education is children aged 8-11years. The game of snakes and ladders with the growth of children aged 6-11years, where the children start and accept the rules of the game. In addition to themethod of playing snakes and ladders, there are role playing method which is oneof the learning processes that are classified into simulation method with controlthings to be conveyed. The purpose of this study is to know the effectiveness ofdental health counselors using the role playing and playing snakes and laddersmethods on the level about knowledge of Grade IV students of 01 ElementarySchool in Tambakan Grobogan Regency in 2019.The type of research used quasi experiment with pre-test and post-testwith two group design. The sample in this study amounted to 26 samples, 13people as a group role playing method and 13 people as a group playing snakesand ladders method, it was taken in total sampling. The analysis was showed byunivariate and bivariate analysis, Wilcoxon Signed Ranks test to find outdifferences before and after counseling and Mann-Whitney test to determine theeffectiveness of the role playing method and the method of playing snake ladder.The results of research showed that there were differences betweenbefore and after dental health counseling with role playing methods, p-value 0.005and playing snakes and ladders method with p-value 0.002. While the Mann-Whitnney test between the role playing method and the snake ladder methodshows p-value 0.113. The conclusion that role playing and playing snakes andladders methods have same effectiveness on the level about knowledge of thefourth grade students of SD Negeri 01 Tambakan, Grobogan Regency in 2019.
