Abstract

THE RELATION OF CONSUMPTION PATTERNS FRUIT AND VEGETABLE WITH BREAST CANCER CASE OUTPATIENT AT SANGLAH DENPASAR HOSPITAL ABSTRACT Breast cancer is the most frightening disease for women and the leading cause of women’s death. In developed countries, breast cancer is at the first place among cancers. The risk factor that cause high case of breast cancer in Indonesia is the prevalence of less consumption of fruit and vegetable 96,3%. This study aimed to analyze the relation of the consumption patterns fruit and vegetable with breast cancer case outpatients at Sanglah Denpasar Hospital. This is a case control research which has been conducted from April to Juny 2018. The population of case is all breast cancer patients at surgeryof Sanglah Denpasar Hospital with 30 respondent of case and 30 respondent of control. The sampling technique is the non probability sampling with consecutive sampling. Analysis of the data used the Chi-Square test and Odd Ratio. Based on test result statistically obtained that significant relation between the frequency and quantity of fruit consumption with breast cancer case (p1 = 0,02, p2 = 0,01), that was not significant relation between the kind of fruit consumption with breast cancer case (p = 0.07). The significant relation between the frequency and quantity of vegetable consumption with breast cancer case (p1 = 0,04, p2 = 0,02, the was not significant relation between the kind of vegetable consumption with breast cancer case (p = 0,55). The quantity, and frequency of fruit and vegetables are equally risk to breast cancer case. But, the kind of of fruit and vegetables consumption is not risk to breast cancer case.
