Factors Related to the Selection of Long-Term Contraception Methods for Fertile Couples in Puskesmas Gambok, Sijunjung 2019

ABSTRACT
The population of Indonesia will increase and reach 296.4 million people by 2030. TFR is a dominant factor in influencing the rate of growth and the amount of population growth. The family planning program will still be directed towards the use of long-term contraceptive methods in order to accelerate fertility control. However, the long-term contraceptive methods usage rate tends to be less than Non – long-term contraceptive methods, which is in 2015 amounted to 25.4%, in 2016 slightly increased to 26%, and where as in 2017 decreased significantly to 17.45%. This study aims to determine the factors related to the selection of long-term contraception methods for fertile couples in Puskesmas Gambok, Sijunjung 2019.
The method of this study is an analytical survey with cross sectional design. Data collection was carried out on 7 – 29 January 2019 in the working area of the Puskesmas Gambok. The population in this study was fertile couples who became a KB acceptor of 3,068 people. Sampling uses themethod cluster sampling with the amount a sample of 94 people. Primary data were collected using questionnaires about knowledge and role of health personnels. Data were analyzed by univariate and bivariate using thetest chi-square with α = 0,05.
The results of univariate analysis showed that 75.5% chose to use Non - long-term contraceptive methods, 56.4% of respondents had less knowledgeable about long-term contraceptive methods, 44.7% of respondents had basic education, 51.1% of respondents thought that role of health personnels had a role in the selection of long-term contraceptive methods. The results of bivariate analysis showed that factors related to long-term contraceptive methods selection included knowledge (p = 0.008) and the role of health personnels (p = 0.006), while education (p = 0.089) was not related.
The conclusion of this study is the relationship between knowledge with the selection of long-term contraceptive methods, there is a relationship between the role of health workers and the selection of long-term contraceptive methods and there is no relationship between education and the selection of long-term contraceptive methods. For this reason, counseling is needed that is more specific about long-term contraceptive methods and if necessary cross-sectoral activities related to the socialization abaout long-term contraceptive methods, and holding a health promotions door-to-door.
