Immunization of rubella measles (MR) is an attempt to prevent measles and rubella. The percentage of measles immunization in West Sumatra in 2017 is 79.3%. The Dadok Tunggul Hitam Health Center in Padang City is the lowest health center for MR immunization coverage in 2018, which is 20.52%. The impact of the low coverage of MR immunization is the outbreak of measles, rubella, and congenital rubella syndrome (CRS). The purpose of this study was to determine the factors associated with the provision of rubella measles immunization (MR) in infants in the working area of the Dadok Tunggul Hitam Health Center in Padang City in 2019.
This type of research is an analytic survey with a population of all mothers who have children aged 9 months to 5 years totaling 1207 people. Data collection was carried out on 7 to 31 January 2019. The sampling technique was simple random sampling with a total sample of 61 people. Data collection using a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using computerization with chi-square test.
The results showed that respondents who were not MR immunization were 52.5%, negative mother perceptions were 42.6%, families who did not support 37.7%, and were exposed to high mass media 62.3%. The results of bivariate analysis showed a correlation between mother's perception, family support, mass media and the provision of MR immunization.
From the results of the study concluded that there is a relationship between maternal perceptions, family support and mass media with the provision of MR immunization. It is expected that health workers can increase education that is more innovative and easy to understand about MR immunization such as counseling using educational media, leaflets, and counseling through home visits involving the husband and family of the mother. With the presence of home visits, it is hoped that it can change the mindset of mothers, husbands and families about the importance of MR immunization for children.
