      Abstract
      Azizah Ulfi Effectiveness of Giving Mung Beans Juice and Nutrition Counseling on Total Blood Cholesterol of Fishermen who Smoked Active in Junjung Sirih District, Solok Regency 2019 vi + 66 Pages +16 Tables, 12 Appendix ABSTRACT Smoking habits are considered to provide pleasure to the smoker, but on the other hand it can cause adverse effects on himself and those around him. One of them is cardiovascular disease associated with total blood cholesterol as a strong predictor in assessing the risk of cardiovascular disease. Based on the BPS of West Sumatra province in 2016, the highest percentage of people who smoke every day in Solok Regency is 25.10%. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of mung beans juice and nutritional counseling on total blood cholesterol levels in fishermen who are active smokers in Junjung Sirih District, Solok Regency 2019. This study uses the design of Quasi Experiment Design with the design of a Non Equivalent Control Group. The population in this study were all male fishermen who were active smokers with a sample of 20 people. This research was conducted from January to February 2019 in Junjung Sirih District Solok Regency by using data analysis of T-test dependent test and independent T-test. The results showed that there were differences in the average total blood cholesterol before and after the administration of green bean juice and nutrition counseling in case respondents, namely from 249.3 mg / dl to 163.7 mg / dl with p value = 0,000. Whereas the control respondents were from 240.6 mg / dl to 186.9 mg / dl with p value = 0,000. The influence of mung beans juice and nutrition counseling on the reduction of total blood cholesterol in case and control respondents with p value = 0.027. People can use mung beans juice as an alternative non-pharmacological treatment to reduce total blood cholesterol with consumption of at least 37 gr / day. It is expected that hypercholesterolemia sufferers should pay more attention to diet and other things that can affect total blood cholesterol.
