ABSTRACT
Stunting is a health problem that illustrates the inhibition of toddler growth problems. This problem is one of the health indicators that needs attention. The purpose of this study was to determine the risk factors for infectious disease in the incidence of stunting in children under five in the work area of the Parit Health Center in West Pasaman.
This study uses a descriptive approach with Case Control design. Sampling technique with Simple Random Sampling. This research was conducted in November - December 2018 in the working area of Parit Health Center West Pasaman. Data collection is done through interviews using questionnaires and observations. The samples in this study were 60, 30 in the case group and 30 in the control group.
The results of the study found that the risk factors for stunting in children under five in this study were infectious diseases, the results of statistical tests showed that there were differences in the proportion of infants with infectious diseases compared to infants who did not have infectious diseases with a p-value = 0.023, OR = 3.519.
It is expected that parents can maintain environmental sanitation, immediately bring children under five to health workers if they experience illness and are expected to provide health workers with information about infectious diseases and prevention of infectious diseases.
