Description of Dust Levels and Disorders of Respiratory of Workers in Two Furniture Business in Cengkeh, Lubuk Kilangan District, Padang City in 2018.

ABSTRACT
Wood furniture business in Cengkeh, Lubuk Kilangan Subdistrict, there is dust originating from the process of cutting and processing wood which can cause workers to feel respiratory problems due to dust. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of levels of dust and respiratory disorders in wood furniture business workers.
This type of research is an observational study and carried out in a quantitative cross sectional manner about inhalable dust levels and workers' respiratory disruption in two wood furniture businesses in the Cengkeh Sub-district of Lubuk Kilangan District Padang city in 2018. Primary data for inhalable dust content was obtained directly from the field with take measurements using Low Volume Air Sampler (LVAS) while for workers' respiratory tract disorders through interviews using a questionnaire that was helped by a student majoring in environmental health.
The results showed that the inhalable dust levels varied enough with the highest dust content (5.80) mg / m³. Respondents (55%) were affected by respiratory disorders such as phlegm cough. Respondents are old (36%). Respondents with a work period of more than 5 years (45%). Smoking respondents (72%). And respondents who did not use Personal Protective Equipment (73%). From the results of the discussion it was found that there was a significant relationship between levels of inhalable dust with workers' respiratory disorders.
It is expected that workers in the production section with high respiratory disorders in wooden furniture workers are given personal protective equipment in the form of masks, to prevent the occurrence of respiratory disorders.
