      HIPERTENSI PADA PEKERJA INDUSTRI DI KAWASAN INDUSTRI PULOGADUNG

      Abstract
      Hypertension is a public health problem worldwide. Hypertension can cause coronary heart disease, cardiac in/arc, stroke, etc. which can cause death. This paper aims to determine the prevalence of hypertension and related factors in the industrial workers in Jakarta industrial estate Pulogadung. Research design a cross-sectional study. The samples were the industrial workers in the production of 20-55 years old and had worked in each company at least 2 years. Number of sample were 950 workers (minimum sample size) but 32 people were excluded because of missing data. Variables measured were hypertension (dependent) and independent variables (age, gender, education, body weight, time of employment, smoking habits, blood cholesterol levels, the status of distress and level of satisfaction). Data were collected by measuring blood pressure and anthropometry, interviewing with questionnaires and General Health Questionare (GHQ) and testing the blood Data analyzed with univariate and bivariate Chi Square test (X"). The results showed the prevalence of hypertension of 22.8%. No relationship between hypertension with age, body weight, distress, smoking and time of employment. These results are expected to be used as a material consideration in efforts to prevent and control hypertension risk factors, especially for industrial workers.   Keywords: hypertension, workers, industry
