      Abstract
Background: Appropriate laboratory testing is an integral component of the proper evaluation of the male with infertility. Semen Analysis was the window to know the quality of a man's semen. In the infertile couples, first it shoud be checked these men of man's caunterpart, because its procedure is relatively easy and cheap. If the result of semen analysis ts normal, then the wife caunterpart was conducted by obsteric. The objective of this study was to evaluate the males' sperm amongin fertile couples, we have done sperm analyses of infertile men in the infertile-andrology laboratory of the center of Health System and Policy Research and Development in Surabaya. Methods: This study was a laboratory research using data of patients who visited our clinic since January 1, 2005 to December 31 2008, the analyses included volume, consistency and PH of semen, as well as concentration, motility and morphology of spermatozoa. Results: Indicated that from 180 male patients, 81 cases (45%) had normozoospermia, while 99 cases (55%) had abnormal sperm condition. The impression of spermtogram results indicated that normozoospermia was the highest (81 cases) followed by oligo asthenoterato (59cases), and the extreme oligo asthenoterato (31 cases). We recommended that sperm analyses has to be the first test form fertile couples, before conducting more complex examinations, which will need high cost and extra effort. The sperm analyses is also used to evaluate pre and post medical and/ or surgical therapy of infertile males. Key words: infertile- spermatozoa
