Abstract
Application of shallot extract and coconut milk has be en tested to stimulate the vegetative propagation of pepper and grape. However, so far, shallot extract and coconut milk have yet to use for P retrofractum VaW. The objective of this research was to acquire the concentration of shallot extract and coconut milk on the growth of P retrofractum VaW. in the nursery. The research was carried out at the research station of Agriculture Faculty, University of Bengkulu, from October 2003 to January 2004. Experimental design used in this research was Completely Randomized with two factors. The first factor was the concentration of shallot extract consisting of 50: control; S1: 250 g/2L of water; 52: 500 g/2L of water; and 53: 750 g/2L of water. The second factor was coconut milk concentration composing of KO: 0%, Kl: 25%, K2: 50%. The data were analyzed using analyzes of variance (ANOVA) at 5% level, and continued by Duncan Multiple Range Test. The results indicated that application of shallot extraet had a significant effect on the shoot length, number of leaf, green color intensity of leaf, and fresh weight of shoot. Shallot extract concentration 500 g/2L of water produced longer shoot length (23.10 cm). Meanwhile, the highest number of leaf (14.55), the greener color intensity (54.00), and the heaviest shoot dry weight were resulted by application of 500 g/2L shallot extraet concentration, consecutively. Number of root, root length, and root dry weight were not influenced significantly by theshallotextractconcentration. Key words: Shallot extract, coconut milk, Piper retrofractum VaW., green color intensity, dry weight.AbstrakAplikasi ekstrak bawang merah dan air kelapa telah dicoba untuk memacu perkembangbiakan vegetatif tanaman lada dan anggur. Namun, ekstrak bawang merah dan air kelapa belum pernah diaplikasikan pada lada panjang atau cabe jawa (Piper retrofractum Vahl.). Penelitian ini dimaksudkan untuk mendapatkan konsentrasi ekstrak bawang merah dan air kelapa pada pertumbuhan lada panjang di pembibitan. Penelitian dilaksanakan mulai Oktober 2003 sampai Januari 2004 di kebun percobaan Fakultas Pertanian UNIB. Penelitian dilaksanakanmulai Oktober sampai Januari 2003 di kebun percobaan Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Bengkulu (UNIB). Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap dengan dua faktor yaitu konsentrasi ekstrak bawang merah dan konsentrasi air kelapa muda. Konsentrasi ekstrak bawang merah terdiri dari S0: kontrol; S1: 250 g/2 l air; S2: 500 g/2 l air; and S3: 750 g/2 l air. Konsentrasi air kelapa muda terdiri dari K0: 0%, K1:25%, K2: 50%. Data dianalisa dengan ANAVA pada taraf 5%, dan dilanjutkan dengan uji lanjut DMRT jika terdapat beda nyata. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa aplikasi bawang merah berpengaruh nyata pada panjang tunas, jumlah daun, tingkat kehijauan daun, dan berat segar tunas. Ekstrak bawang merah dengan konsentrasi 500g/2 l air menghasilkan tunas lebih panjang (23,10 cm). Jumlah daun terbanyak (14,55), intensitas warna daun terhijau (54,00), dan berat kering tunas terberat diperoleh pada perlakuan ekstrak bawang merah dengankonsentrasi 500 g/2 l air.
