dc.descriptionFilariasis (elephantiasis) is a chronic infectious disease caused by microfilaria worm.  The disease attacks tract and lymph nodes, generates the lymphatic system damage and leads to lifelong disability. Based on re-SDJ investigation in 2014 located in Bilas Village, Tabalong Regency that 24 people were positive for filariasis. Even though the mass treatment of filariasis has been conducted for 5 years, however the results remain ineffective. The aim of study was to observe the periodicity of the worm in order to anticipate filariasis. The periodicity study was performed to people with positive microfilaria. Blood sample was collected from at 09.00 am. to 08.00 pm. The Aikat and Das formula was used to analyse the periodicity of the worm. The results revealed that the highest density of microfilaria was 8,583 per 60 µl and the lowest density was 1,583 per 60 µl. The F count of four patients in Bilas Village was smaller than F theory, so that it was categorized as a non-periodic. In addition, the non-periodic features was also showed from the density variation of non circadian microfilaria (F). It can be concluded  that the awareness of mosquitoes vector attacking either day or night is fundamentally needed.      en-US
